Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"I’d been meaning to try Pellegrino 2000 for ages (and yes, it’s got plenty of hype — Taylor Swift effect and all) but it absolutely lived up to it. The food was outstanding. We started with the focaccia and truffle butter, which I can only describe as life-changing — I’d go back just for that. The prosciutto with burrata was fresh and simple, and the twice-cooked octopus with butter beans was another standout — perfectly balanced with a touch of acidity and creamy beans. We also shared the rigatoni carbonara, which was rich, silky and spot-on. Finished with the tiramisu — nice and delicate, though a bit too creamy for my taste. Overall though, a fantastic experience. Great service, beautiful food, and absolutely worth the visit."
"Great atmosphere from the moment you walk in. The service was excellent — the waiters and staff were attentive and welcoming from the start. The food was amazing. I love Italian food, and here I had some of the best ravioli I’ve ever had. It was the first time I’ve tried pasta where the sauce didn’t overpower the flavour of the ravioli. The ravioli was definitely the highlight — you could taste all the ingredients exactly as described on the menu, and the sauce complemented it perfectly. We also ordered the pork cotoletta. Good portion size, cooked really well, and perfectly crispy. Dessert? So good. The tiramisu was the best. The only small downside (which I understand is structural) is that there’s only one bathroom. Overall, an excellent place. Would definitely come back."
"We walked in on a Saturday night and were lucky to get an outdoor table. The atmosphere inside looked lovely as well. We ordered the prawn ravioli, focaccia with truffle butter, clam spaghetti, and insalata caprese. Everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The cocktails were excellent too. The service was outstanding. The staff took the time to explain all the dishes on the menu and were very friendly and attentive throughout the evening. When it started to drizzle, the staff moved us under the cover before we even had to ask. Portions were slightly on the smaller side, but I’d still love to come back."
"This restaurant sits between modern and classic Italian food, the best of both worlds! Amazing food and an impressive cocktail menu. Lots of on street parking nearby though it can be a timing thing! Seating is casual so you can enjoy a drink before eating in the same spot. Staff are lovely and friendly, attentive, with out being annoying It does have very loud music which makes conversation difficult, we left a bit hoarse but had a really enjoyable evening here."
"Very popular restaurant with great food and and service. We had a 2.5 hour lunch time slot for party of 6. The restaurant was really busy. The food was amazing - really well presented, beautiful flavours and good portions. We sat downstairs - my only gripes was that we were quite cramped and put against the wall, it was quite stuffy downstairs and there is a damp musty smell. Service was good. If a nice day I would sit upstairs or outside."
"Love Pellegrino! We had a table in the downstairs cellar, gorgeous! We did the $90 set menu & food was abundant & so delicious. I’d heard about the port schnitzel & it was truly amazing. Great service too! Perfect for small groups or an intimate date night"
"Amazing service and even more amazing food. Went in as a single diner and really wanted to be able to try their famous rigatoni alla carbonara and their tiramisu too. There would’ve been no way for me to finish the pasta and the dessert so the staff were so kinda to offer me a half portion of the pasta. Honestly superstars and made my dining experience that much better!"
"Authentic Italian Pasta. Most dishes are seafood. If your palate is not sophisticated, u won’t enjoy the flavors. (Dont expect spaghetti meat balls or chicken alfredo) We reserved for 6pm dinner service. We ordered the olives, Focaccia e burro, Pinzimonio di verdure, Fritto misto, Ravioli di gamberi, Capellini alle vongole and Crema caramello alla banana for dessert. The best dish was the Focaccia e burro. The truffle and parmesan butter that comes with it is magic. The rest was okay. Just different from ur typical street pasta. Some drinks we tried had a strong bitter flavor, id recommend getting oj or lemon juice if u dont wanna risk it. For seating, you have the basement (super cute for a date night, or outside seating if the weather is nice). Would i go again? Maybe. But Sydney has too many Italian restaurants so probably trying other places. Nothing here is drawing me back except those bread rolls with that cocaine butter or whatever they put in it."
